After our classes were over (the second session) the students got a meal provide by the Felician Sisters (Sr. Inga, and Sr. Marilyn) who we were staying with. They had one of the woman from community cook for the students. I later learned that, that one meal is sometimes the only meal the students receive throughout the day. Because meals are not provided on Saturday and Sunday, some of the students go without food until Monday after classes. Sometimes we forget how privileged we are here in the United States. We’ve become so wasteful and when I say we I mean myself included. Being in Haiti has made me more grateful for my life and things like food. Not knowing when your next meal will come is hard to fathom. We also went into the homes of most of our students, on day five. What was most intriguing about the students, was how much joy and pride they took into us coming to visit their homes and become acquainted with their families. When you see some of the circumstances they live under its sad and devastating yet the joy and happiness they have is something not only to take hold of at that moment, but something to admire. Also sorry about the delay with my updates I’ll be sure to update day 6 & 7 tomorrow ! Oh yeah, HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER 🙂

Tried to get a selfie in around my students, bad idea.

Love them. I think Wilson thought I was putting up the number two so he put up three fingers lol.
