Here’s Day 2 !

Second day in Haiti, was also our first day of class. Each Volunteer (Marie, Anthony, Desirre and I) held  ESL classes (2 sessions a day) teaching young adults as well as children in Jacmel, English. First session started at 10:00am ended at 12:00pm and the second session was from 2:30pm until about 4:00pm. I was born in the United States so although I am Haitian, my Creole (native language of the Haitian people)  is not as strong as it should be. The kids and I made a deal that I would teach them English (it was going to happen regardless) and in return they would help strengthen my Creole. So I wasn’t doing all the teaching but I was learning as well. You’ll see more pictures and videos of us teaching throughout the blog. We also went to Missionaries of Charity center located  in Jacmel. Missionaries of Charity is a Roman Catholic religious congregation established in 1950 by Mother Teresa. Active in 133 countries the members vow, to give wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor. Being able to be in that environment was a blessing in of itself. From babies, to women to children and men they were all in the facility provided by the Missionaries of Charity and gave me a new outlook on the dignity of the human person.
